It's that time of year, again. That time when, on the weekends and in the afternoons, folks beat the heat by sitting in the shade and sipping on refreshing summertime beverages.** But summer drinks, just like most liquids, can be a dietary pitfall if you're not aware what's in them, and how much...
Scientists have identified a protein which regulates the activation of brown fat in both the brain and the body's tissues. Their research, which was conducted in mice, was published in the journal Cell. Unlike white fat, which functions primarily to store up fat, brown fat (also known as brown...
Bad news: Most people don't understand how health works. Between the New York Times article that says most people are in denial about their weight, and Massive Health's infographic called "We Eat Less Healthy Than We Think" (below) it's no wonder our country has chronic health epidemics ranging...
I would love on of the higher tech Polar ones but they're just a bit outside my budget. I really don't care whether it's fashionable or not or if I can use it as a watch or if it lights up or whatever. I'll probably only use it during work outs anyway. I'd rather it didn't slip, but if it does...
I do not understand why a person needs approximately 2,000 calories if a person can retain all that makes the body work properly in just 1,000 calories.
Example: My Complete Nutrition shake only has about 500 calories, but the nutrition facts compared to what the body needs does not lack...

It doesn't matter if 1500 calories come from fat or protein, 1500 calories is 1500... Right?
Sometimes on the nutrition labels, there is a calories and then a calories from fat listed. If it has both are you suppose to add those two number together to get the total calories of the food or is it already accounted for but they just list so you can see how much comes from fat.

If you were to be on for one hour, what machine would burn the most?
( eliptical, treadmil,ect)
Treadmil wise would be a constant 4.0
So about 3 and a half miles
I can't go faster than that.
( I've been really sick, and doing this is more than I should, but I won't let myself do any lower.)
When I heard yesterday that Mars (the manufacturer of Snickers and M&Ms, among many others) was putting a caloric limit on its candy packaging by next year, I got excited--as their spokesperson said, America's problem isn't necessarily that candy is bad, it's that it's big. So I decided to look...
In the U.S., we don't get eat a lot of Kraft peanut butter. But the teddy-bear-swaddled product is a Canadian staple, whose success the food manufacturer is hoping to re-create with a new, gross-sounding*twist on the old standard: whipped peanut butter. But don't be tricked by Kraft's crafty...
Okay, let me explain....I struggled with an eating disorder last year, about 8 months ago. And I always ate between 400 to 600 calories of food every day. That's all I would eat. I managed to eat this much for several weeks, but for some reason, I would never lose weight?
Looking back, and...

We're just days away from Thanksgiving dinner--which means we're also days away from Thanksgiving dessert. When it comes to slicing the pumpkin*pie, you probably usually ask for the smallest piece. But just how small do you have to go to keep your serving to 100 calories or fewer? Is it even...

A Thanksgiving tradition, canned jellied cranberries, served in their delightful circular shapes, are about as American as apple pie. Even if you hate the wiggling maroon log of goo (and would prefer to use the berries in a more wholesome way) odds are, the*medallions*of jelly are going to be...
