I know there are many specific ones, but is simply doing a good deed like clean up the town, or voluntarily doing community service a Mitzvah? So is any good deed a Mitzvah?
Both Judaism and Catholicism put an emphasis on following the teachings of the elders of the community. For Catholics, that would be the Apostles, Popes and clergy. For Jews, it means the rabbis and sages of Israel.
