opel tigra fuel problem?

my girlfriend drove her 1.4 opel tigra 97 for a long time with petrol light on . the engine mamagement light came on after this and now car struggles to start or idle drives ok just wont idle good or start first time im assuming it scked dirt up from th fuel tank and its nothing major just wondering where to start take out injectors and clean them or fuel filter or fuel pump dont wanna spend money on it its not worth so wanna sort it my self thanks for any help also if tis injectors whats best to clean them just a carb cleaning spray cause petrol additives haven't worked

It can be done two ways;
General cleaning removing tank cleaning all pipes,tubes,injectors replacing filter.
Would just replace the filter and see how it goes.

all you will need to to do is change the fuel filter it will be blocked from driving on the dregs at the bottom of the tank.
