Most likely you will not be able to tell any difference at all unless you have one of the monster 65 inch television sets.
Plasma technology inherently produces a much higher contrast ratio than LCD anyhow, so you should be just fine.
You will not see an appreciable difference unless your TV set is about 50" or more. I returned the wireless blu-ray player I bought because the difference was so slight from simply upconverting (done by the TV set) regular DVD's.
I'm sure the quality of the DVD makes some difference as well...
Does it only do this with the PS3? Could be a problem with the PS3. I had a blu-ray player that had some problems. I don't know which series Bravia you have, but since it's 120Hz I'd be willing to bet it is not in the TV set.
Know anyone with a Blu-ray player? Borrow it and see if that...
Samsung has the better reputation for reliability.
Japanese sets have long been held to be more regarded as the most reliable, and Samsung sets are manufactured in Japan. LG sets are made in Korea, and there were reports at first of the difficulty to get parts and repair service for LG...

Radio Shack sells them. Best Buy does too, but they're probably cheaper at Radio Shack. Walmart used to carry them, but I haven't checked there in a long time.
In my wildest dreams, I can't imagine 5.1 sound coming from a laptop computer. That is for outputting to a sound system, surely. 5.1 involves placement of the speakers within the listening space as well as just the decoding capability. And, the .1 part of 5.1 is the sub woofer. I guarantee...
Xvid is not a video format. Since Xvid uses MPEG-4 Advanced Simple Profile (ASP) compression, any video that is encoded with it is termed "MPEG-4 ASP video" - not "Xvid video" - and can therefore be decoded with all MPEG-4 ASP compliant decoders. This includes a large number of media players and...
Why is it called blu ray if it's supposed to be describing a blue ray? Oh wait, it originated from Sony, those wonderful people who gave us Pearl Harbor. That explains the poor use of the English language.
