I have a 2003 VW Golf. My friend's dad is a mechanic and does work on my car for cheap, downside is he is haitian and his accent is super hard to understand. What I got from the conversation was that I need all four of my brake calipers replaced and since he has an account with Advance, they will beat any price that he finds out there. All that I need to do of course...is go out on the internet and find those cheap deals...does anyone know if my car needs a specific kind of model or are they all pretty much universal? Anyone know any good places to start my search? I'm clearly not a grease monkey gearhead so some help/information/guidance would be very much appreciated.
Also. The calipers didn't fail. It's just that they are not working optimally so they are effecting fuel economy and also the rate at which they are going through brake pads. So, the investment will pay out in the long run to replace them.
