in judaism, he is a powerful leader elected by God and in christianity, he was a man who suffered a terrible death on the cross and he was born of a virgin and he will come back one day and in judaism, they are waiting for the messiah yet but this messiah is powerful, two visions of the messiah? jesus wasn't powerful in first coming because he didn't destroy the roman empire over judea

Read Daniel 9:20-27. That talks about the Jewish Messiah. That is the prophecy which Jesus fulfilled.

messianic prophecies in judaism - no more war - no more death - no more manufacture of weapons - these are signs that NOBODY can miss - jews of his day rejected jesus for obvious reasons - bar kochba was thought to be the messiah but he died - among chabad orthodox schneersohn was thought to be the messiah but he died - none of those things came to pass during jesus' lifetime - in judaism the messiah is an ordinary and fully human man, not the son of god (or in the sense that we ALL are children of god, any of us can be messiah) - it is not the messiah that causes these things to happen - it is god - the "second coming" is nothing but an excuse for jesus to have truly fulfilled NONE of the messianic prophecies - if he didn't fulfill the prophesies then he simply was NOT THE MESSIAH - in judaism it is believed that the messiah will be hastened if we all perform "tikkun olam" - repair of the world - the messiah will not come to a broken world - the concept of messiah did not exist for the pagans of 2000 years ago, so early followers of jesus redefined the concept to resemble pagan myths of horus, osiris, mithras, dionysis, etc because it was easier to convert them to something they were already familiar with - but when you actually understand the history of all of the prohibitions of levitticus they boil down to "this is what the pagans do - don't do these things" (this is of course referring to 3000 year old pagans and has nothing to do with neo-pagans of today)
