My puppy wont stop barking and whining in his crate its driving me nuts?

Puppies are known for whining the first few nights in the crate. I have never had much luck with the old clock or radio tricks. What I do is lay down by the crate like I was going to sleep there. Usually a puppy may fuss a little, but then settle down and go to sleep. Once it is asleep, you can get up and go to bed.

Get rid of the cage. When you are home keep him where you can see what he is up to. Baby gates work great. When not at home puppy proof a small room, I used a bathroom and used baby gate to keep the pup in. This worked great and used it until they were old enough and could be trusted. When they were still pups they slept in bed with me so when they stirred I got up and took them out to go potty and never had a problem. I am sorry but I just don't buy into the whole cage business.
