Is the ego the reason people reject Christ and ridicule his followers?

For me this was why I rejected Him for so long. I thought I was beyond Christianity and became a die-hard atheist. I then discovered that Christianity is not a religion but a way of life. Today I read the book of Matthew and asked Jesus to come into my life. Right after I asked that I felt an overwhelming feeling of bliss and contentment.

'Man is never as tall as when he kneels before God; and the man who kneels before God can stand up to anything.'

I heard Bear Grylls say that quote.
I thank all of you for judging me without knowing me. I never realized how unintelligent I am. I must have seriously screwed up on the aptitude and IQ tests I have taken. Do you guys want to know how old the Earth really is? Just over 4 billion years. Is evolution real? Yes it is. I understand the scientific method of knowing things and it is the best way for us to understand the Universe and how things work. To reject science is to reject intelligence and logic and the power of thought. Science and faith are intertwined but at the same time they are separate from each other. Thank you for taking the time to ridicule me and call me an idiot. I wonder why society is on the brink of collapse?
Do you people honestly believe you are giving me new information??
Most of you make the claim that you are intelligent yet none of you can come up with an original insult. Thinking you have all the answers is an indicator that intelligence is not present. WAKE UP!!

I'm atheist but Bear Grylls rocks.

I don't see how ego comes into play with Atheism. It's the Christians who think they are such beautiful creatures that they must have been specially designed by an all powerful being.

I hear it's foolishness!

Psalm 14:1
The fool says in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good.

I Am An Atheist

It is not for a lack of desire,
for who would not want an Omnipotent Being
looking out for one's welfare,
protecting one's loves?

It is not for a streak of rebellion,
for I live my life no differently
than most who believe in God.

It is not for disappointment
in prayers unanswered,
for my life is good.
Some call it "blessed".

It is not due to misunderstanding,
for once I believed as they do,
bible at my bed, read through
dark nights of doubt,
praises to God in the morning.

It is not due to anger at clergy,
nor encountering the wrong church
or hypocrite laity,
for I've known many wonderful believers.

It is not hatred, fear, pride,
selfishness, or lack of education;
It is not bigotry, persecution, or immorality
that prevents me from believing.

I am an atheist,
not believing in the gods of today
for the same reason believers
disbelieve
in the gods of yesterday.

Nope. It's the whole complete lack of evidence thing.
It's the same reason I don't believe in leprechauns, unicorns, little green men from mars, magic healing magnetic bracelets, homeopathic remedies, etc.

Peace.

A lot of people refect Christ because the don't think its cool and there's too many "rules" and they don't want to give up their fun. Some reject them because of stuff going wrong in their life and they blame God
And welcome back to the family of God

so if you kneel to god can you stand up to god too? i mean....you did say ANYTHING.....

Is the ego the reason people reject the flat earth theory and ridicule its followers?

atheist,,,rejection u are,,not us,,dunce,,and yes we can with stand yo words,,in one ear and out the other..

Logic is the reason for people rejecting Jesus.

What kind of sick god sends people to hell for disbelief? That's like telling me i'm going to chop your hands off if you don't agree that the function of a circle is x^3. If you know anything about math, you'll know that's NOT the function for a circle.

Only 1/3 of the world is Christian. Most of those accept Jesus because of childhood indoctrination. And it's unclear how many of those are simply nominal Christians.

Here is something Jesus said:

John 15
1I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.

2Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

3Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.

4Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.

5I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

6If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

7If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

8Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.

9As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.

10If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.

11These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.

12This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

13Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

14Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

15Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.

16Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

17These things I command you, that ye love one another.

18If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.

19If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

20Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.

21But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me.

22If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloak for their sin.

23He that hateth me hateth my Father also.

24If I had not done among them the works which none other man did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father.

25But this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause.

26But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:

27And ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning.
