How do you deal with rumors spreading about you?

Well, first off this didn't actually happen. I didn't expect this to go too far, and I expected it to fade away in an at least a few hours. So, a guy basically is telling people that I have had my mom 'touch' me sexually to apply ointment on me because of a skin problem. He's only doing this because his ex girlfriend made up this lie. Yet, he keeps saying she's not a liar, when I tell him she's obviously lying. Now, I asked someone who he told this to if they believe it, they said "I guess..". He thinks I'm close with his ex girlfriend. Also that I told her all this. Then I got into an argument with him. They all defended him. My remark to that was, "Wow, getting people involved by pulling them in. You can't even defend yourself". Please help.. before it gets too far.

Tell the counselor about this. This is part of sexual harassment. If that doesn't work confront his ex-girlfriend about it, ask her why she made up this lie then from go from there.
