I would like to replace the engine of my Corsa (petrol) with a more fuel efficient diesel engine. Please let me know which car's shall be best suited or if there is any better idea.

How many miles per gallon for 1.4 petrol saloon 2002/2003 vauxhall astra? Need to know as I am interested in getting this car but don't know the mpg. Would be happy if it was over 40 mpg but I do not know as I can't find the answer anywhere. Thanks peeps :)
