KICKERS are DIRTY, DIRTY, DIRTY. I personally hate them, the sound quality on an alpine is far superior. However, if you like a lot of bass (regardless of quality) then i would have to say to get the KICKERS. "Most" 10inch subs, even an alpine type-R, will have trouble trying to compete with...
Get a multimeter or a 12volt tester($2 at hardware/automotive store). Check the power on the yellow wire of your aftermarket harness. It should have 12volts at all time, even when the car is off. Next check the red wire, it should have 12volts only when the key is ON or in the ACC position...
I don't know the specific car but the idea is pretty basic. get behind your dash and find the wires leading to the radio. now you must figure out which wire is for the parking brake sensor. (check online for pics of wire harness and wiring diagrams to locate the wire) once located simply...
i have a 2001 Oldsmobile Alero GLS and was changeing out the cd player. does any one know if it has a stock aplifier, and if so where it is.
also will i have to buy the $80 wireing harness with the speaker on it...
there is nothing wrong with walmart speakers if you just want to upgrade without an amp(cheap route). i would get 4 new speakers and a 4 chanel amp to power them, you should be able to find packages on the internet and at bestbuy where they sell everything together and usually for under $150...
i hope that was just a typo when you said "with a subwoofer IN the amplifier"
yes it can, The unit has both front and rear/sub switchable pre-amp outputs. thats where you would connect the rca cable from your amp to your stereo.
you got your power and remote mixed up, common mistake. the red wire is actually not the power, its the remote turn on(small power signal thats only on when your car is on). The yellow wire is your main power, 12V constant power, just switch them around.
