will a 1 ohm amp take a dual 1.4 ohm sub (fi car audio sub)?

my thinking was if i run it in parallel it would become .7 ohms.. and i dont know if that would hold up on a 1 ohm amp
 
Sometimes amps can go slightly below their rated impedances however not a risk I would take either. You can run the amp at 1ohm or anything above but nothing less. Too be safe I would run the sub in series. If you do decide to be brave and run parallel then I suggest you install a 12 volt external cooling fan to keep amp cool. U should know fairly quick if the amp cant handle .7 ohms. If it holds then it may work for awhile but eventually can damage the amp. All really depends on what brand amp u have. Oldschool usa or us amps can handle .5 ohms and the older orion hcca amps as well . The 50hcca and 25hcca were bad muthas. Older soundstream amps went low to ;)
