How did Homo sapiens outlive homo neanderthals?

From what I understand an early group of neanderthal ancestors left africa and then evolved in europe to live in the cold conditions. Then our ancestors left africa the same way to find neanderthals in europe, who are similar but have different characteristics and features.

So how did neanderthals get beaten by the new kids on the block?

What's the story about homo erectus? (in a nutshell)
 
Uh? There's only ever been homo sapiens.

Africans lived in Africa since the flood until they were shipped in as slaves to Europeans and early Americans.

There may some evidence that Neanderthals interbred with the 'new kids on the block'
