...the UK? From what I remember, it was accompanied by some very chilling music. The premise was that a Massive alien 'blob' landed in the UK, and other parts of the world, and they slowly grew larger. The government forces were all trying to send stuff into it, all ending in disaster and people getting experimented on etc. I think in the end they decided to nuke it.
