Because when you compare the Biblical account with the Roman historical record namely, the procedure for guarding a prisoner - Jesus' cadaver in this case, with the Roman governor's wax seal placed over the stone entrance way to the tomb with the Roman guards guarding the tomb over night to ensure security - there is no room for doubt. Roman soldiers faced immediate death if their guard failed. This was a most serious life and death scenario.
