Can I use a DirecTV box as a tuner to receive locals on my SD TV?

I have an SD tv and an OTA antenna but am trying to save $$$ by not buying a tuner. I have several DTV boxes still here while my service is suspended (on purpose) and was wondering if I could use one of those. And if so, how?
I have and HD box but it does not have an antenna output, just Sat. I have an HD DVR that has an antenna input so maybe I'll try that. We'll see how it goes.

Only if it is an HD receiver made before the current "DirecTV" branded line, and has an ATSC tuner.
SD receivers receive only satellte, and the newer receivers need subscription for ATSC to work, I think.
