anyone know about 1967 cadilac coupe deville?

had one today at work beautiful car by the way under the hood only on the driver side thers an amber light looking thing and a hole in the hood so you can see it with the hood closed i presume. it bugged the crap out of me what the hell is it for?

This is an automatic twilight sentinel headlight control which will allow the high beams to operate and then they dim to the low beams when the (adjustable light sensor, the item that you saw) senses light from an oncoming vehicle!
