4 ohm vs 2 ohm type r?

I am going to buy a pair of alpine 12'' type r subs. However, i don't know if i should go with the 4 ohm version or the 2 ohm version. If i get the two ohm than i suppose i would want to get an alpine m1000 amp for each sub. What amp(s) would be the best fit for the 4 ohm subs? What setup would sound better?

Lower the ohms the more power they can handle, i would go with the two ohms with each their own amp
