Have a 360 and use a VGA cable to my 22 inch 1080i tv. Does the XBOX HD DVD player upconvert DVDs over a VGA connection to a higher resolution (or will I need HDMI)? Also want it cause I can find super cheap HD DVDs. Please no talk of how there is no point in buying it because of Blu-Ray, just want it for the upconvert of regular dvds which can be bought for way cheaper than Blu-Ray and still have a similar look. Thanks for the help.

Not sure if it does. The player should upconvert but the only way it would be able to is if you are hooked up with an HDMI cable.

The good news for you is that if it doesn't, you can buy an upconvert DVD player for less than $100 now a days.

P.S. Not to rain on your parade, but, upconvert DVD is no comparison to Blu Ray. Don't believe what many who don't have a Blu Ray player like to accuse (upscale DVD looks close to Blu Ray) . . . . I've got a Blu Ray Player and a Upscale DVD player and the upscaled DVD doesn't come close to the picture and sound of Blu Ray!

You should save up for a Blu Ray player now that HD-DVD has been canceled!
