I have a magnavox blur ray disc player, but wanting to purchase a panasonic 5.1 channel 1000watt "upconvert" dvd/cd home theater system, so basically comes with that other dvd player with the package. I dont want to use that one since Im happy with my blue ray.

I bought a Panasonic Viera 42" 1080p LCD TV a while back, I used to watch DVDs on my computer but I figured I'd get a DVD player w/ the bigger TV and all.
Anyhow I bought a Philips 1080p upconvert DVD player and an HDMI cable. SO far the picture looks great, I just put in Pulp Fiction to test...
If the answer is no....I have a 720p tv. I also have an upconvert dvd player. If I bought a HD-dvd player, would it give me the same picture as my Upconvert or would the HD-DVD player be better?
