iphone 3G Cap Contract Unlock?

If I buy an i phone 3G on a Vodafone Cap contract can I unlock it and then use a telstra prepaid sim card? And then after that will I have to give the phone back to Vodafone if I want to stop paying the cap contract?
 
If it is a contract phone and you do not obey their rules...they have the rights to take your phone.You can unlock the iPhone 3G either through network provider or third party vendors like Unlocking4u.com where thet remove the restriction using permanent remote unlock service.
