It was low on coolant, so I put water in it to hold me over until the next day. I put coolant in it today.. and I was in a big hurry and overfilled it a little and spilled some. Then when I was leaving work it stopped running. It will turn on, run for a second and then shut back off. Any help?
It will start for a second.. then shut off completely. There's no water anywhere.. and my message center isn't saying that it has overheated. It's a 2000 chevy silverado.

you may have cooked your head gasket if you let it get too hot. thats a very big and expensive repair

if it is not cranking over, you may have overheated and seized the motor. new engine needed. if it cranks and don't start, then maybe the head gasket is blown. more info like engine model and what it's doin exactly.
