i need audio and sound on my computer, but how can i get it?

okay you i had a thing called sound-max and my stupid lil brother deleted it from the computer without even knowing what it was for. he made a very crucial mistake and now i cant hear a thing on my computer. i cant hear sound nor audio i cant even listen to the windows media player now. unfortunately i don't know how to get the sound back... can some one help me get my sound back. maybe even to me how to get a better sound or audio... i don't really know much about these things.. but i need some sound at least good sound
