Is music necessary while working out and if so, what kind of music motivates you?

yes... definitely music is good for us especially when working it helps us release the stress and relax while jamming or singing to our favorite song!!! it depends on the person or his/her work... example if you're studying or concentrating on something you must play something soft and soothing just like mellow, it also helps you sleep!!! +__+ if you needed an energy you need something with power and some upbeat... like dance songs... well it all depends on you... music has a lot of uses and purposes it can really tell what you're feeling!!!
 
anything with an upbeat,,I usually watch the treadmill screens too,,,ok I AM going at 2 pm,,,its the law,,,Gym
