When switching from a month to month bill to a 3 year contract with Telus can...

...I get cheaper phones? I'm on a telus plan with an android HTC hero, and have been for about 7 months now. I recently called the Telus people, and they had mentioned some deals on getting a 3 year contract. I've really been looking into the iphone and I was wondering if maybe now that they've seen me pay my bills on a phone I bought outright, they might bypass the credit check as I have little credit to go on. I just dont want to pay a $400 deposit to take advantage of some sweet deals they have for me on the site. Any answers?
