I have a 97 honda civic manual. I had a clutch replaced by a local mechanic found on craigslist who works out of his garage. He gave me a fair price and a receipt for the work after completion. My problem is that the gear Selection is getting more and more difficult. Reverse is the worst now, I almost can't get it in unless I force it. The other gears are catching when the selection is made. I was expecting a very smooth gear selection after the new clutch was installed and initially the gear selection was better but never clean. Now I'm getting slightly more resistance. I'm assuming the guy who did the work warranties it but who knows, I'll find out. My question is, what could be causing the problem? How should I address it with the guy? I don't want to accuse this guy of anything, but I felt strangely about the situation and I'd like to know if I was possibly ripped off in any way or if its just something that's a common problem and can be easily corrected. Thanks for you answers.
