Make sure the phone is Unlocked, or an AT&T phone, and you will be fine. Unlocked means it can be used with any carrier, anywhere in the world.

Your AT&T sim will work in Sony Ericsson K800i if it is a unlocied one.If it locked to some particular network you can unlock it with the help of ProUnlocking.com where you need to mention your network and country your phone is locked to.
