Why won't my blue-ray player connect to the internet?

I have the player all hooked up and all the settings are there but it won't connect to the internet. I have a LG blue-ray player BD570. any suggestions would be very helpful.
i am wanting to be able to watch movies instantly from netflix.

I have an LG but mine will only connect to You Tube. Mine is connected through a 5 port ethernet switch.
