Why is my packet sniffer only picking up packets sent to and from my pc?

It IS running in 'promiscuous' mode
Windows Server 2003 has the packet sniffer running on it (IP address 192.168.1.254) and the only packets it is picking up are from my MacBook (192.168.1.102) which is accessing samba shares. Any ideas why this is? There are at least 8 other machines connected to my network right now. If it helps, I am using a Linksys WRT54GL router.

The router (or something else in your network) is probably acting as a switch instead of a hub. Hubs are dumb devices that will broadcast all packets to all of the devices on the network, so a device on the network can sniff the packets intended for another device. But, not so with a switch.
