I am 18 and when I went to my doctor I had a blood pressure of 156/54. My doc thinks it is "white coat syndrome" and when I asked for some kind of medication he told me I was too young and my bp is normal. So i got a blood pressure cuff myself and machine and when I was measuring my blood pressure, it turns out the doctor was right. But my BP is still high. It is a constant 130/55-60. Now high BP runs in EVERYONE in my family. Everyone gets it and has it. So since I am slightly overweight I started jogging everyday at a speed of 6 miles an hour for 2 miles! I started going on EXTREME diets! Like every small 1,200 calories a day. I have lost weight, I was 200 pounds, now I am 195. I go ahead and check my blood pressure and it hasn't even dropped!!!

I think I need medication. I think my white coat syndrome is a result of anxiety. I feel like if I take an anti-anxiety beta-blocker like propranolol, everything will be fine.

I always feel nervous even when I am not supposed to be nervous!
