I have been googling for an hour and cannot find one good logical explaination for why I cant use a year old crib mattress that has been previously enjoyed by another baby... all the references I find relating to sids are far more concerned with the chemicals that are given off when matresses are new. Yet every advise column strictly forbids used matresses and its apparently even illegal to 'sell' a used crib matress.
Can anyone out there please shed some light on this mystery? Our baby is coming in less than 2 months, and I think what we have is fine. But really, can you tell me why it isnt?
