THE PROBLEM:

I recently purchased a PreSonus AudioBox USB and I'm having a strange issue with a faint, yet obnoxious, high-pitched whine and buzz sound constantly coming through my headphones.

THE SETUP:

-The AudioBox is plugged into the back of my computer via USB.
-I have two KRK Rokit 5 (G2) monitors in the main outs
-One pair of Sennheiser HD 280 Pro monitoring headphones in the "phones" jack.
-A 1978 Yamaha CS-5 synthesizer plugged into Input 1

MY INVESTIGATION SO FAR:

-Even with the KRK's and Yamaha unplugged and just the headphones in, I pick up the noise.

-Turning the "Main" volume knob does nothing.

-Turning the "Phones" volume knob diminishes the noise slightly when turned up (although it does get covered by a bit of white noise picked up from such a high volume), and increases it slightly when turned down.

-Turning the "Mixer" (Input/Playback) knob does nothing.

-Turning up Input 1's gain does nothing until the very last two or three notches, where there is a noteworthy increase in the high-pitched whine. Input 2 has no effect.

I went into my DAW, selected inputs 1 & 2, upped the gain and recorded it. This is what it sounds like: http://vocaroo.com/i/s1FJGnVEJvBa (Bear in mind that it sounds much softer than this through my headphones.)
