If people say personality or need for human contact then I disagree and dogs have independent personality and a mind of their own and do think about what you are telling them to do and when my dog does not want to do something she lays on her belly or side and acts cute but ends up listening but she shows me she does not want t do it. My dog sometimes ignores me and sometimes does not even care to lick me and looks away from me and some cats will always show me affection and not leave me alone so it is the mood and personality of the specie nt the specie itself in my experience. If you say physical survival I agree.cats can hunt and feed themselves.
