What would happen if I never turned off my iPad?

Just curious, if I left my iPad on, never let it go into sleep mode, and kept it plugged into the wall for eternity (possibly longer then what would happen? Would it break or suffer battery problems and glitches? How long could I do this before my iPad started to suffer?
