Blu-ray I would imagine is only useful if you got hi def tv, and well the blu-rays are movie expensive then regular dvds, blu rays run about 25-30. As for a player, I think ive seen blu-rays for around 180 or so, may consider even just getting a ps3 as it is a blu-ray player as well. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HD_DVD
