what is a good portable record player for an audiophile?

Buying a graduation gift for my best friend who is an audiophile who loves her old records. she really wants a portable record player. what is a good working and good sounding portable record player for around $100?
what about Not portable? something thats sounds good, doesnt destroy records, and is a reasonable price?

You can barely get a decent turntable for your budget. I can't imagine your friend would appreciate a portable turntable at that price, if they're an 'audiophile'.
