What exactly is the point of organized religion?

I Just don't see the point. If God (or what ever you want to call it) is so merciful then why would there be a single correct religion? IF you live your life honorably and make good choices then what else is there?

Sin is rebellion against God, which makes good works here look insignificant. Being a good person is all fine and dandy, but without faith you might as well be dead.

To help, support, and encourage one another in a world which does not see what we see

Hebrews 3:12 - 14

"See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. We have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original conviction firmly to the very end."

it's like the game of telephone

no one gets god's word right for two reasons

1 it goes from person to person so fast that no one can remember the word of god even if they heard it right or heard the right thing

2 people changing the word of god or making up false testimony

Just living your life with making good choices certainly may be fine for most people. However the truly religious person is actually seeking to transform his basic often sin-full nature. In a sense he is looking to create a pattern in himself that is essentially superhuman through whom the infinite can shine with fewer obstructions. Orgranized religious activities and prayers help him in that task.

The point of organized religion is the art of getting money from people without giving anything in return, AND making them believe they're doing it happily. Best scam of all time.
