Weird t-mobile store process?

I recently upgraded my phone at t-mobile for a Samsung Galaxy S3. But the store did not give me the phone and said they were going to send 3 mysterious phones to my house and I would have to return it to the store in order to get my Galaxy. This has never happened before so I am wondering if it's normal?
 
That is not normal.

Sounds like the guy at the store scammed you. Go back and talk to a manager and tell them the situation and the name of the person who helped you.

Do not give that person the phones.
