We were driving home this evening in rush hour traffic, when our car just shut down! Just died in the middle of the freeway. We were able to coast to a safe spot and let the car sit. We tried several times to get the car to start without success. The EPC light was illuminated. We tried as a final attempt to start the car after about 20min and the car started. There were NO warnings illuminated, but after about another mile or two the EPC light illuminated again and RPM's climbed about 200 more than normal, but no unusual activity. We finally made it home but the RPMs remained about 1100 at a resting point. We are at our wits end with this car. It has been in the shop several times and being that we live in Alaska, we are limited as to who is knowledgeable enough to work on a VW. We have only 60,000 miles on the car and the repairs that have been done on this vehicle are financially putting us in a difficult situation. Please, please if anyone has any information that could help us, we would be very great full. The last visit to the shop costs $3000.00 for a sensor in the transmission due to the fact that the only certified mechanic here on the island misdiagnosed it the 1st time and so we ended up paying for his mistake. Again, any insight would be much appreciated. Enclosing we are about to burn this car to the ground:) LOL!!
