Utorrent and bittorrent softwares hang my computer?

HI. I have installed an updated version of bittorrent in my laptop. whenever i start my laptop the downloads start checking, and it kills the performance of my computer. after checking it runs the downloads. I want bittorrent to stop checking when i start computer. I m using windows 7 home premium. any solution?

uttorent is better in options disable strt up

First , use tune up to disable all unwanted programs from startup , then don't seed any thing as it will use most of your upload/download and cpu usage.
Utorrent is much better , (as and advice) use Utorrent turbo accelerator to speed up downloads.
