Should tour guides talk a lot during a tour?

Someone wants me to help them with a tour guide gig. I've never done this before. How much talking should I be doing? I've watched some videos on Youtube, and tourguides (especially on large bus tours) seem to talk all the time.

If I were to go touring, I would actually prefer to look around with just minimal but relevant information.

ask your friend who wants you to help what it is they are looking for in a tour gude helper? In reality you need to know what you are talking about so you are giving people information along with being part entertainer so they at least remembe what the tour was about. And possibly give them a little known secret or some tidbit of information so when they are home putting the family to sleep with the 400 th slide of my vacation to the lost sock state they would remember something original by you ok?

Tour guides do lots of talking because they have to know and explain facts about the place that is being toured
