the car ran fine last night. this morning when i turned the key the car rev'ed for a sec then clicked and wouldn't turn over.
the belt to the alternator spins one then slows and stops.

any help would be appreciated.

if you have a voltmeter (either in the car or as a tool) check the voltage of the battery, the starter will click if the battery is low but it shouldnt rev up and then start clicking. If the battery is low, check try jumping it with another car with a good battery. If the battery is fine, it might be the starter itself. it's basically a really strong motor made to turn strongly and quickly so if it's starting to break, it wont turn with enough power to start the car but it will turn slightly. hope this helps
