Problem With GMC S15 starting up?

The truck is an '85 GMC S15... The truck starts but I have to rev the engine alot and this isn't just starting it had this problem for a while now it started after I took the truck to wisconsin (I live near Chicago) after it gets reved up alot it runs like new I took it to many mechanics to get diferent opinions and they can't figure out whats wrong with it but they always say it might be from old gas but I'm sure the gas isn't the problem... Do you mean after it warms up from revving you don't need to keep revving it? Lots of old carbureted vehicles need a bit of a warm up period due to something wearing out which I can't remember, something with the choke maybe... If you let them run for a bit and rev up they won't sputter and quit when put in gear and driven.
