No. 1 Star: Brad Marchand, Boston Bruins

The Bruins struck first, edging the New York Rangers 3-2 in overtime of Game 1. Marchand scored the winner, and added an assist on Torey Krug's powerplay goal to tie the game early in the third period.

No. 2 Star: Drew Doughty, Los Angeles Kings

Doughty scored the Kings' second goal and was on the ice for the late powerplay marker that tied the game in their 4-3 comeback win over the San Jose Sharks. He was also the best skater on the ice for nearly half the game, leading all skaters with 28:28 of icetime.

No. 3 Star: Zdeno Chara, Boston Bruins

Speaking of dominant performances from elite defenders, Chara gave Boston one. In addition to scoring a goal and adding an assist, he played an absurd 38:02 in Boston's win.

Honourable mention: Huge save here by Jonathan Quick:

Henrik Lundqvist made 45 saves in the loss... Scott Gomez had two assists... Trevor Lewis scored the game-winner, which probably counts for something... Ryan McDonagh beat the buzzer with this late second-period goal:

Did You Know? 5'9" Torey Krug is the shortest defenseman to score a goal for the Bruins in 27 years. [Jeremy Lundblad]

Conn Smythe Watch: 1. Evgeni Malkin, Pittsburgh Penguins; 2. David Krejci, Boston Bruins; 3. Corey Crawford, Chicago Blackhawks; 4. Jonathan Quick, Los Angeles Kings; 5. Henrik Lundqvist, New York Rangers; 6. Patrice Bergeron, Boston Bruins; 7. Drew Doughty, Los Angeles Kings; 8. Henrik Zetterberg, Detroit Red Wings; 9. Joe Pavelski, San Jose Sharks; 10. Craig Anderson, Ottawa Senators.

Dishonourable mention: Marc-Edouard Vlasic is, without question, the goat for the Sharks. Not that he threw the puck over the glass intentionally. Still, that ridiculous penalty wound up costing the Sharks the game... Also, Joe Pavelski really let Lewis get away from him on the game-winner... Brad Richards played just 12:57 for the Rangers.
