It drives and shifts smoothly, but wont go into 4th gear. The RPMs will go up to 5000 without a problem, but the car wont go faster than 60mph. There is no strange noise. The check engine light is on. Is the tranny going out, or is it something simple like a bad solenoid? How can I tell before I take it to the mechanic?
