Looking to buy a Ford Edge, but wanted to know where is a good place to start?

Want to buy a used Ford Edge (dont think I can afford a new 2009 model) - 2007 - on. I live in NYC so I wondering where in the tri - state area or in PA, VA, MD or somewhere near there... I could get a good deal on this purchase? I hear about auctions, and auction sites but not sure if I should go there..also auction sites cost money and again was wondering if they were worth it. I live in NYC but am moving to Tx in late June so would love the car to have low mileage.
