Ok so I am looking for an old Sci-Fi book and all I can remember is that a character lives in a clear dome and to relax he runs on a virtual track controlled by a treadmill. Very vague, I know. But maybe someone will know

The problem with this, is that there was an "explosion" of "domed cities" in science fiction - when everyone used them in their stories! especially in the 70's hehe.
Was it underwater? If not the only one I can think of off the top of my head is "Under the dome" by stephen King, or Logan's run? Was that a book first or just a film?
Also, may I also reccomend "Brave New World" by Aldous Huxley, and The Hand Maiden by MArgaret Atwood, if you like science fiction :)

Sounds like a late 50s-early 60s concept.
Have you read The City and the Stars by Arthur C. Clarke? The whole city is under the dome.
There are also works by Alan Nourse and Frederick Pohl from that era that employ similar domed and bubbled homes.
