Former UK Prime Minister Liz Truss has said she thought a newspaper’s lettuce stunt during her tenure, in which it outlasted her time in office, was “puerile”.Truss was speaking during the News XChange 2023 conference in Dublin on June 19. When asked by journalist David McCullagh whether she could see the funny side of the lettuce livestream, Truss replied: “I don’t think that’s particularly funny, I just think its puerile.”In October 2022, a livestream by the British newspaper the Daily Star went viral. The stream showed what was, according to the paper, a 60p iceberg lettuce and hinged on the premise that Truss would leave her post as PM before the lettuce wilted.Truss is the UK’s shortest-serving PM, with a tenure of 44 days.
