Is it wrong to use studio monitors over the amp with a home theater set up?

I wanna use monitors instead of an amp driven speakers with my Marantz AV7701. I know the disadvantage with them being near field but my listening area is very small. If I had the money I would go for a pair of monoblocks and some good speakers. Whats your opinion?

There is nothing wrong of using a studio monitor speakers for home use. There are not many speakers are actually a studio monitor and mainly in the higher end. JBL is about the most widely use speakers for studio sound reproduction/monitors. Stand alone power amplifiers are also in the very high end. Krell, Bryson, Mark Levinson, McIntosh just to name a few. Hope this will help you out.
