Is it possible to have too much snow to go snowmobiling?

There's about 3 feet of fluffy snow on the ground. Would the sled sink??

If you had bare ground and then one storm with three feet of fluff, you would be riding on the ground with everything blowing over your hood. It needs time to pack down.
